From the world around the records

The record ends. The image remains.

The record was only the beginning.

FLIPSART grew out of FLIPSIGHT’s sleeves, posters and visual experiments. Images made around house music, taken beyond their first purpose and given a life of their own on canvas.

Behind the images How a sleeve becomes a world of its own.

01 / Origin

Made around music.

FLIPSIGHT is an independent Antwerp label built around house music, visual identity and vinyl culture. From the start, every release needed its own image, atmosphere and physical presence.

Some FLIPSART works began as sleeves, posters or event visuals. Others emerged as side works during the visual exploration around a release. Taken out of that first context, the image could become an artwork in its own right.

02 / A different sense of time

Future sound. Another time.

Synthesizers, turntables and studio equipment inhabit interiors and landscapes that feel slower, older and more painterly than the electronic music they refer to.

That tension is The Future in Reverse: future-facing music culture pulled back into images that feel nostalgic, domestic or almost classical. The world of the club and the machine, seen through a different lens.

03 / From image to object

A new life on canvas.

Each work is built through concept, art direction and extensive manual refinement, with technology as a starting point. The image is not simply generated. It is built.

More than enlarged covers, FLIPSART is a visual archive of FLIPSIGHT’s first three years: sleeves, posters, studies and side works given a new form as physical canvas pieces.

“The images still carry the atmosphere of the music, but they no longer need the music to exist.”
